Soccer Dictatorships 2

Posted by dgtized 19 Jun 2006 at 15h46

Random commentary in St. Louis Post Dispatch on Sunday;

“A man I met once compared soccer to McDonald’s – just because it’s everywhere doesn’t mean it’s any good. Soccer represents everything America was founded against – Europe, poverty, inequality, socialism, dictators, etc. – why would anyone to embrace it? People came here to get away from that, not transfer it.” – Dan Levin, Creve Coeur

I am somehow left a little uncertain on how Soccer represents dictators.

    I like this blog. It is tidy. What software is it built from and how much tweaking did it take to get this way?

    The blog software is typo, which is a ruby on rails blogging engine. I made some custom modifications to it (namely the addition of the quotes), and fitted a custom stylesheet to it. If FastCGI is already running on Apache it’s pretty easy to setup, otherwise the difficulty is in getting apache up and running nicely. Supposedly lighttpd is easier to setup and faster, but since i’m on a shared host I can’t do that.
